Thumb rest screws often blow out on clarinets. This shows the proper repair. Drill out the existing hole, glue in a piece of plastic rod, re-drill the hole and replace the thumb rest.

I don’t do a lot of drum repair, but I do change heads, replace hardware, and recover drum shells.
